SHPE’s impact in the community

SHPE @ UIC is committed to helping and empowering students throughout their STEM career. This year SHPE has accomplished great things through the help of board members, sponsor companies, advisors, faculty and volunteers. We strive to continue making a positive impact in our communities, and you can be a part of it too!

SHPE National Conference 2018

This year we had another successful SHPE National Conference! We had 60 members from UIC networking and connecting with the hundreds of companies that came out to the conference! We also were honored to receive the Outstanding Outreach/Community Service Award thanks to the hard work of all our members!

Noche de Ciencias 2018

On the weekend of Nov. 3rd we hosted our annual NDC with the help of SHPE-UIC, IIT, UIUC, Northwestern, Morton, Wright, Purdue Northwest and SHPE-Chicago. It was an awesome event with families and students from across the Chicagoland area who got to experience hands on STEM activities, while the parents got to listen to presentations from Comed/Exelon, Google, LARES, and the CHANCE program! A big thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors for helping make this event possible!

SHPE-Kids

Earlier this fall semester SHPE hosted an event where 8th grade students from Hedges Middle School Children had the opportunity of learning more about college and careers in STEM. Additionally, they participated in hands-on fun STEM activities, and received a tour of UIC’s Engineering Makerspace area where they learned about 3D printing and robotics.
