National Conference 2019 FAQ

Q: How soon can i start securing my spot?

If you would like to purchase your own ticket independently of our sponsorship process, you can do that any time! Separate registration forms will be coming out soon! If you're interested in being considered for sponsorship, you will have to full out our survey provided above.  

Q: Am i eligible for this event? 

Believe it or not this event is open to anyone and EVERYONE is eligible. Regardless of whether you've been with the society for years or just heard about us yesterday! The real question boils down to how much it will cost you to attend, this is where active members have an advantage. 

Q: What is the cost of attendance? 

The cost of attendance varies depending on whether or not you are sponsored by the SHPE-UIC chapter. If you are sponsored by our chapter, your costs will be heavily subsidized. In other words, we will cover most of your expenses! If you are not sponsored by our chapter, you would have to pay your own expenses. 

Q: How do i get sponsored?

In order to get sponsored you must fill out our survey. The survey will help us choose which candidates are the best fit for this event. 

Q: What are the criteria for sponsorship? 

There are two sets of criteria. The first set is procedural criteria and the second set is supporting criteria. 

Procedural Criteria:

• You must be a member of the SHPE-UIC chapter. CLICK HERE to become a member.

• You must be a member of the SHPE-National chapter. CLICK HERE to become a member.

Supporting Criteria: 

• Involvement in the SHPE-UIC chapter.

• Involvement in affiliated organizations such as MERRP, LARES, or other sister chapters.

• Good academic standing

Q: I did not get selected for sponsorship... what now? 

This does not mean you are out of options! You can still purchase your own registration ticket. If you coordinate with us, we can also provide you with transportation to the event which will save you money on airfare.
